Athletes, 2018, České Budějovice

The commission for a permanent installation arose from the experiences of the České Budějovice city council, prompted by the positive public reactions to my sculptures, which I repeatedly showcased at the local sculpture festival "Umění ve městě" (Art in the City). The Stromovka Park, bordering the city center, is a lively space utilized by locals for relaxation and recreational sports. The investor's intention was to revitalize the area with a distinctive artifact, serving as an additional reason to linger in this charming location with a view of the river. The life-sized figures of athletes relaxing in the grass reflect my kind-hearted relationship with sports – I enjoy and admire them, but I don't take them too seriously.
